The county covered by Skip Hire Wiltshire is probably most well known for the city of Salisbury and Stonehenge. Trowbridge and other well regarded habitations include Chippenham, Amesbury, Cricklade, Devises, Warminster, Corsham, Westbury, Malmesbury and Swindon.

Stonehenge is possibly the most well known Neolithic location in the UK and sits on the Salisbury plain, 8 miles north of Salisbury. The neolithic location, possibly the county of Wiltshire’s most well known monument possibly took 3000 years to construct (although not all in one hit!). There are many varying theories on how the stones got to their current position, a bit of the trip would have involved the huge carved pieces being dragged 40 miles across Wiltshire to their current position.

Salisbury was originally settled because of the large quantity of water in the vicinity, it is situated close to 5 water courses. Salisbury is well known for its cathedral, that attracts many tourists to Wiltshire each day. The original cathedral was constructed between 1075 and 1092 and it is said that the position for the second Cathedral was selected by an archer shooting an arrow from the position of the first one. 800 years later Salisbury was an significant centre for music.

The town of Amesbury, in the south of Wiltshire is in the district of Salisbury. The Beatles visited in the town in 1965 whilst they were recording the video for “Help” on Salisbury Plain.

Warminster is sited in the west of Wiltshire, that has a populace of around 30,000. The town is well known as a hub for Unidentified Flying Objects sightings in the 1960s and 70s. Unusual sounds were thought to have been heard and strange things were said to have been spotted. This fashioned a lot of curiosity in the county of Wiltshire town over the coming years along with a lot of hoaxing.

Chippenham, a town well known for its railway arches fashioned by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, is also in Wiltshire. A well known buttercross in the town centre has been in its current location since 1995. The buttercross had dropped into dis-repair after being bought for £6 by Mr E.C. Lowndes in 1889.

Within the county of Wiltshire  the town of Malmesbury is positioned on top of a hill and can assert to be the most ancient borough in England.

The town of Swindon is mid way between Reading and Bristol and has a a large Polish community. The town has a number of major car plants including Honda and BMW.

The county of Wiltshire, often abbreviated to Wilts, is also home to the towns of Devises, Trowbridge and Cricklade. Devises used to be known for its textiles industry, Trowbridge is part of the historic West Country Carnival Circuit and Cricklade has a large clock that was put into place in 1898.
