North London is sometimes considered to be all of the areas north of the River Thames, but for the purposes of Skip Hire Guide .com, we are describing it as the following areas – Barnet, Brent, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey and Islington.
Barnet is a town and a borough in North London located about 10 miles north-west of Charing Cross. Barnet is twinned with a number of cities around the world, including Jinja in Uganda. Jinja is the 2nd largest city in Uganda. One of the other places Barnet is twinned with is Ramat Gan in Israel. Ramat Gan is home to the 2nd largest university in Israel - Barllan University.
The London borough of Brent is in the North West of London and borders Harrow, Barnet, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Camden, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster. The London Borough of Brent is home to Wembley Stadium. Wembley Stadium was opened in 2007 and was the largest stadium in the world where every seat was under cover. In total the stadium cost £798 million to construct.
Camden Town is in North London, within the London Borough of Camden. Camden Lock is in Camden and was constructed in 1818-20.
On the outskirts of north London is the London Borough of Enfield. Enfield is bordered by Hertfordshire to the north and covers an area of around 32 square miles.
The borough of Hackey is made up of the former metropolitan boroughs of Hackney, Shoreditch and Stoke Newington. Hackney is twinned with Bridgetown in Barbados, as well as a number of other cities.
The London borough of Haringey is home to some of the most prosperous areas in the country, these include Muswell Hill, Highgate and Crouch End. Parts of the movie Shaun of the Dead were filmed in Muswell Hill. Shaun of the Dead was written by Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg and was released in 2004.
The London Borough of Islington is in north London, but not too far from the centre of the capital. Islington is home to the well known “Angel” which was originally an inn and is on the monopoly board.
The Northern line is a line on the London Underground system. It runs from Morden in the south through central London up into north London, passing places like Waterloo, Kings Cross, Tottenham Court Road and ending up in either Edgeware or High Barnet. Northern Line was also a band in the 1990’s whose biggest hit was “Love on the Northern Line”.
