East Sussex is a county in the south east of England, bordered by Surrey, Kent and West Sussex. To the south of East Sussex is the English Channel.
The major urban areas in East Sussex include Lewes, Hastings, Bexhill-on-Sea, Eastbourne, Rye, New Haven, Uckfield, Crowborough and the only city in East Sussex, which is Brighton.
Brighton is not just a university city, but also a well known seaside resort. A world famous feature of Brighton is the piers. The West Pier suffered wide spread damage in 2003 when it was set on fire. There are now plans to replace the pier with a landmark called i360, which will be a 172m high tower, with views across the water.
One of the largest towns in the Skip Hire East Sussex area is Lewes, which is the county town of East Sussex and is on the River Ouse. With a population of around sixteen thousand Lewes is renowned for its excellent bonfire celebrations on November 5th.
Near Lewes, is the East Sussex town of Newhaven. Newhaven is the home of one of the oldest lifeboat centres in the UK and is part of the National Coastwatch Institution which is a registered charity that was started in 1994.
Eastbourne was a popular Victorian seaside resort and is located near to Beachy Head, which is the location of the highest chalk sea cliff in the UK. The cliff is 162m high.
Another well known town in East Sussex is Hastings, which is famous because of its connection with the Norman conquest which began in 1066 and ended with William the Conqueror becoming William I.
Uckfield is a town located on the River Uck and is said to have been the last place that Lord Lucan was seen. Another town in East Sussex is called Battle. Battle was built around Battle Abbey which was founded to commemorate the Battle of Hastings that took place there.
Wealden is a district in East Sussex. The largest towns in the Wealden district are Hailsham and Crowborough. Each of these two towns haves a population of around 20,000. Hailsham has an agricultural history and Crowborough is the largest inland town in East Sussex (by population).
Pevensey is also in the Wealden district of East Sussex. The A259 road passes through the village and there are also two railway stations locally; Pevensey & Westham and Pevensey Bay.
Herstmonceux Castle is near to the village of Herstmonceux which is a former site of the Royal Greenwich Observatory.
